An example of the CAME FERNI articulated arm operator fitted to a Scroll installation in Southampton. The system is used mainly to provide automation in situations that would be expensive to automate any other way, eg. when existing gates are hung in the centre of large pillars. | Articulated arm operator |

Example of a Scroll full installation, stage 1 |
This is stage 1 of a series of 5 shots of an installation near Botley, Hants. All work including site clearance, groundwork and brickwork is by Scroll. This view is before starting. |

Heavy steel posts (6"sq for the main supports) are first concreted in along with the foundation for walls. | Example of a Scroll full installation, stage 2 |
|
| |
Example of a Scroll full installation, stage 3 |
The posts are concreted in with the gates hung, supported on jigs. The arrangement ensures there is no possibility of any alignment error as the gates can be perfectly levelled before the concrete is poured. |
|
| |
Once the posts have been concreted in, the brickwork is built round them with the certain knowledge that the gates line up perfectly, with the brickwork finished, all hollow areas of the pillars are backfilled with concrete. | Example of a Scroll full installation, stage 4 |

The finished job. Scroll Portchester gates with underground automation, entry phone, keypad, radio etc. Also shown are the Scroll lanterns |
|

The 3 normal types of operator, above ground, underground and articulated arm type are appropriate for 95% of jobs. For others we make a linked system. For the entrance to this listed building in New Alresford, Listed Building Control refused permission to mount new gates on separate posts and with the original pillars leaning heavily in both directions and the drive sloping up, a non standard system was needed. Scroll supplied and installed the linked underground system to these Scroll Portchester gates. It is probably the most discrete of any system. The view shown is from the inside. (see also photo general 23 and photo Portchester 1) | Linked underground automation |
